Start with the carrier file

Keep the original carrier estimate, scope sheet, denial or partial denial letter where applicable, and the carrier’s inspection photographs. These documents establish what was originally considered and help identify the questions the supplement needs to address.

Add measurements and damage photographs

Use the relevant measurement report and clear photographs. Organize photos by roof slope, elevation or repair item so a reviewer can connect the image to the scope being explained. Where concealed damage is found during tear-off, retain dated photographs before the area is covered again.

Support requirements with reliable references

Where relevant, identify the locally applicable building code edition and amendments, manufacturer installation instructions and regional price list used in the estimate. Include weather verification when it is relevant to the documented date of loss.

Keep each line explainable

A useful submission makes it clear what item is requested, how its quantity was determined, and which evidence supports it. The right documents depend on the property, work and applicable requirements. This checklist is educational and is not a guarantee of carrier approval.
